Fresh from the studio, I have just posted several new paintings which reflect subtle changes to my work influenced in part by the workshop I took this summer. To continue growing as an artist, I am constantly watching, learning, pushing myself past comfortable in search of that distinctive "artistic voice" I can call my own. And so little by little, the work evolves and the changes are fascinating to see. One rather significant change I have made is to change the signature on my paintings from the initials "anahw" to my full last name, "Horsnell Wade" to more clearly identify my work. A change that will now mark different periods in my work as well. As always, I love your comments and feedback.

On Saturday, December 4th from 2:00pm until 4:00pm, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia will host the launch of the new book, Nova Scotia's Contemporary Artists - Volume II. I am very pleased and honoured to be featured in this wonderful new book highlighting many of our province's finest artists. A big thank you to editor Dee Appleby for all her time and effort in creating this lovely book. All are welcome to the launch event and many of the artists will be present to autograph books, myself included. Arts East is a new online magazine featuring art and artists from all four Atlantic Provinces. A class act from cover to cover, Arts East has filled a very real need providing great interviews, insightful editorials and wonderful exposure for writers, musicians, visual artists and performers. I wish them every success in what I hope is a long future. I'm also very proud and pleased to have my artwork featured in the most recent issue, November 2010. Check their website to request an email issue of the magazine: http://www.artseast.blogspot.com/
Yesterday I gathered with a group of wonderfully inspiring ladies to guide them through my "Finding Direction in Your Art Career" workshop. It is always such a pleasure to work with other artists and these ladies were a real treat with a variety of experiences and backgrounds to share. Comments on the workshop include "very informative", "very genuine", "clear and concise", "great progression to the information." Thanks as well to the Craig Gallery at Alderney Landing for the professional and art-filled atmosphere. "Shiraz" and "Merlot" are two new paintings to be exhibited in the upcoming Society of Canadian Artists Exhibition entitled "Little Gems Show" from December 1st to 13th at Galerie Ouest, 37 rue St. Thomas, Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec. The opening reception is on December 3rd from 6pm to 9pm. If you are in the Montreal area, please stop by and enjoy the show! |
