Today I received word that I have been elected as a member of the Society of Canadian Artists! Great news. This is a national society which encourages artistic excellence and advancement by providing exhibit opportunities and award recognition. I am looking forward to participating in upcoming exhibits in other areas of Canada and meeting members from across our country.

I am often asked what inspires me, especially when it comes to my abstract paintings. The simple answer perhaps is life inspires me. The long answer is more complicated. I come to the canvas and simply begin to apply paint and what was once blank canvas, begins to reveal suggestions of shapes and movement and intent. It is a very personal immersion into the work itself, and each brushstroke, each line leads me farther along the process until the essence of the painting itself is realized. Experience and skill certainly play a part, as does trust. And always the challenge of reaching farther, pushing harder to reach that ideal in my mind. It is that striving for more that enables the work to grow. Don't forget to check the gallery page as I am constantly adding new work - two new works today for example. Look forward to your comments!
I'm very pleased to announce that my work is now available at The Lost Gallery, 523 Main Street, Mahone Bay on the South Shore of Nova Scotia. This is a wonderful new gallery with a super location, featuring contemporary abstract artists. Ask for Angus or Lynette Park and they would be pleased to show you my paintings.
