. For me, being an artist, is first and foremost about expression, of communicating in a language of colour and texture and movement. Painting is a joy and a challenge and the heart of my work. Right now, I am excited to be creating a new series of paintings for my upcoming solo show at 14 Bells Fine Art. Stay tuned for more updates. I also teach art classes though I sometimes feel I learn as much as my students. Teaching is a great exercise to remind myself about the foundation skills and the excitement I felt painting for the first time. I also firmly believe in giving back and contributing to the art community and the community where I live as a whole. Writing about other artists for a local paper allows me to shine a little light on the important place art has in all of our lives. Last but not least is the time I spend working on the business side of my art practice. The life of an artist is not so different from any profession, though creating art perhaps defines who artists are as much as what artists do.
